As a boy growing up in Manchester, I never thought I would be running for Mayor of Greater Manchester.
This is an amazing country where anyone can succeed if they work hard and put themselves forward. If a kid off a council estate with no father, a speech impediment and poor schooling can attempt to reach the top, then anyone can.
This is what I want for everyone. A land full of opportunities where your success is in your hands. Where personal responsibility is the key to a happy life.
