The race to become Mayor of Greater Manchester is over, I was not successful. It was always a long shot that I would win. But I wanted to offer a new vision to the people. A vision that did not split us into tribes and convince us we are victims and 'hard done by'.
I answered every question I was asked with 100% honesty, even when I knew it would lose me a vote. For it is only through honesty that we can push forward to improve society. Live not by lies!
I enjoyed the campaign. It was fun. The worst bit was the hustings on Zoom. No atmosphere. They were basically lobby groups trying to get us to sign up to their view point. The only one's worth doing, that I was invited to, were with the Manchester Evening News and a special one in a candidate's back garden over a beer.
The biggest positive was the support I got. So many messages from people I did not know wishing me well and success. Change is wanted, but not by the majority presently.
Andy Burnham's victory was massive. He increased his vote share by approx 5%. He now has a mandate for his vision and the backing of the people.
I am not disheartened. I am still here. I will continue to fight. I have the answers to many of society's problems. I will stand again.
The front cover of my new book has been approved. Pre order now.
